How do I apply?
So, you’ve searched our current opportunities and you’ve found a role that fits your life as well as your skill set. Simply click on the ‘Apply Now’ button, and the rest of your application will take place online. What’s more, you can complete it at a time and pace that works for you.
All of our Returner opportunities follow broadly the same application process. However, you might encounter some differences, depending on the role and department. That’s why it’s important to read the candidate information pack for the exact placement you’re applying for. In addition, please make sure you follow the on-screen instructions. (If you need help in completing your application, please contact ReturnersCampaign@cabinetoffice.gov.uk.)
Whichever role you’re applying for, we’ll ask you to provide us with some basic personal information. (Don’t worry, we are fully GDPR compliant.) We’ll also ask you to share your CV with us. This is your chance to tell us how you meet the criteria for our programme, and what makes you a ‘Returner to Work’. (Please note, failure to do so will see you automatically sifted out of the application process.)
Here are some tips on completing your CV:
Finally, we’ll ask you to write a personal statement, which is a crucial part of your application. This will help us to assess your suitability for the role, so it shouldn’t be treated as a cover letter. Within your statement, you should describe how your skills, qualities and experiences make you right for the role. Critically, this should be backed up with real life examples, including what personal impact you’ve had on the situation.
